Farmer First is a way of doing business. It is a way of doing life. We are putting others first. Farmer First is not a certifier, nor a movement. It is a celebration of the countries of origins and the people who produce great coffee. We form friendships with these coffee farmers, work with them to produce the best quality coffee and pay them more for that quality.

They are farmers. They work the land and many struggle to provide for their families. They live in parts of the world where the challenges they face everyday would bury most of our best efforts. The disadvantages they face - little or no access to capital, little leverage in a commodity and economic supply chain - require the sort of faith, resolve, and commitment that can inspire.

50 Lanterns

One of the ways Farmer First helps coffee farmers is through 50 Lanterns, a Minnesota-based nonprofit organization that partners with established humanitarian groups to provide disadvantaged communities with renewable energy sources such as solar-power lights, lanterns and water pumps.
